White and grey may be the traditional choices for marble-effect tiles, but coloured designs offer a different approach. Green, brown and amber work particularly well across larger surfaces, where the pattern and variation can be seen properly.

Why choose large format marble effect tiles?
Large format tiles reduce the number of grout lines across a wall or floor. This allows more of the marble pattern to be seen and creates a cleaner finish, particularly in bathrooms and open-plan spaces.
At 1200 x 600mm, Alabaster Emerald and Marron are large enough to make an impact without moving into specialist slab sizes. They can be laid across bathroom walls and floors, inside showers, through kitchens or as a full-height feature wall.
Both tiles are made from rectified porcelain. Their precisely cut edges allow for neat, consistent grout joints when installed correctly. Unlike natural marble, they do not require sealing and are straightforward to maintain.
Alabaster Emerald: soft green and ivory
Alabaster Emerald Honed Marble Effect Porcelain takes its pattern from natural onyx, combining an ivory base with soft green veining and translucent-looking layers.
The lighter colouring means it can be used across an entire bathroom without the scheme becoming too dark. Continue it from the floor onto the walls for a more complete finish, or use it inside a shower alongside plain ivory tiles.
Alabaster Emerald pairs well with off-white paint, warm woods, aged brass and dark bronze. For a more pared-back scheme, keep the remaining finishes pale and limit the number of additional materials.
Marron Satin: brown marble with amber veining
Marron Satin Marble Effect Porcelain has a deep brown base crossed with amber and golden veining. Its 3D Satin finish introduces subtle surface detail and a soft sheen, highlighting different parts of the pattern as the light changes.
Use Marron across a full bathroom wall, behind a freestanding bath or in a downstairs WC for a striking statement. It can also be continued onto the floor for a darker, more enveloping scheme.
Pair it with dark-stained timber and brushed brass, or contrast the brown with pale plaster, cream paint and simple white ceramics. Keeping the grout colour close to the main tile shade will help the surface appear more continuous.
Can large format tiles be used in a small bathroom?
Yes. Larger tiles can work particularly well in a small bathroom because fewer grout lines make the surfaces appear less divided.
The layout should still be planned around the dimensions of the room to avoid unnecessary cuts. Large format tiles also require a flat, properly prepared surface and should be installed by a tiler experienced in handling larger sizes.
Do marble effect porcelain tiles need sealing?
High quality porcelain does not generally require sealing, unlike natural marble. This makes marble-effect porcelain tiles a practical option for bathrooms, kitchens and other frequently used areas.
Always follow the individual product guidance and discuss the preparation, adhesive and grout requirements with your installer before fitting.
